Autumn 1
Welcome Back! We hope you all had a lovely holiday and well-deserved rest. Children in Year One will be welcomed with a variety of subjects taught through play. This focus allows for children to learn the national curriculum through play and communication. Children will need to be in daily to continue their push of phonics for the end of year Phonics Screening Test.
Our learning foci this term is ‘The Mysterious Woodlands’ which will be incorporated through our different curriculum areas. This will also allow for children to have a forest school experience to enhance their outdoor survival skills. This learning foci will be embedded across all curriculum aspects to improve place value skills, descriptive work and topic units.
If you need to talk to any of the adults about your child please do not hesitate to contact via Class Dojo which is our communication platform. The Year 1 Curriculum is attached below with our Curriculum Maps to help you navigate through the year.
PE days will be Monday and Wednesday.
Reading books need to be in school everyday and will be changed weekly.
Spelling test and arithmetic test will be on a Friday.
In St Luke's we are a family and we have values which are important to the staff, children and parents. We would like our school family to always remember our vision:
1.Being loving neighbours
2. Being caring stewards
3. Being reflective individuals.
