What we believe:

A high-quality Art curriculum enables children to become confident, creative and thoughtful young artists.

Children learn to:

  • Develop key artistic skills in drawing, painting, sculpture, printing, textiles and digital media.

  • Use a wide range of tools and materials with increasing control, independence and purpose.

  • Explore creativity and self-expression, generating original ideas and making artistic choices.

  • Study and be inspired by a diverse range of artists, craft makers and designers from different cultures and time periods.

  • Think and work like artists, planning, creating, evaluating and refining their work.

  • Use art vocabulary confidently, discussing their own work and the work of others with insight.

  • Build resilience, confidence and problem-solving skills through experimentation and reflection.

  • Appreciate the role of art in society, understanding how creativity enriches the world.
